Almost 200 days to the start of the Special Olympics Invitational Games being held in Malta, the President of Special Olympics Malta Dr Lydia Abela met with the coaches and athletes to announce the six disciplines in which they will compete together with almost 1,000 athletes from around 25 countries who will come to Malta in mid-May for the biggest sporting event in 2022.
The six disciplines are football, athletics, bocce, tenpin bowling, table tennis and swimming. The games will take place between the 13th and the 18th of May 2022 in Marsa, Tal-Qroqq and San Ġiljan.
“Coaches are crucial in the development and training of all athletes, especially those like you who work with children and young people with particular needs and challenges. Your dedication, commitment and discipline are being translated into further inclusion and strengthening of athletes’ abilities,” said Dr Abela.
